Family discovers father is a war hero
Clayton Pond never talked about his participation in World War II. His family asked us to look into his service record after he passed away. We discovered an amazing story of a humble hero. Pond was a pilot in the Army Air Corp tasked with rescuing downed pilots and other trapped ground forces. He extended his enlistment after the end of the war, and, in 1946, he and a Major he was piloting throughout China were both caught up in the Chinese civil war and taken prisoner. He spent almost two months in captivity.
Result: We found dozens of pages of military records and newspaper clippings describing his capture.
